So, where was I?
The body was starting to take shape, I'd spent ages sanding and bogging and more sanding, but the bonnet, engine lid and rear fenders really only had one layer of primer/high fill on them.

Image

So I gave them a going over with the long board (2x4,2x4!) and pretty much started again.

Image

I think this was last weekend, I dunno, it's all just blurred into one big session in my sleep deprived head.

Image

Chair/panel stand.

Image

fronts needed another layer after fine filler.

Image

bonnet looking good.

Image

was pretty please with the light set up at the time, had 4 of these blazing half the night, gotta have good light for this work.

Image

better.

details.

details!

getting close now.

the bad.
Image

the gun spat here on the left rear fender.

Image

so I stuck heaps of paint over it so I can hopefully polish it out, so it sagged here.

Image

and when painting inside the air vent I made this mess, looks like I'll be learning to wet sand paint now!
All in all I'm pretty stoked and glad it's over, heaps of runs and spots of over spray and areas of orange peel etc..
but not bad for a noob in a shed in west auckland.
looking forward to assembly.

Thanks Guys, I'm very happy with it, runs seem to have shrunk as the paint has hardened.
Nerve racking alright! was sweating bullets, stomach in knots for most of the day, compressor stopped working at one point, had blown a fuse, so I'm standing there with my dick in my hand! fuck!! I also blew a air line right near the end, I had one of these 500watt work lights on the ground and the line was sitting in front of it for a bit to long as I was mixing up the last pot of paint, pttiisssssssssssssssssssss! #-o #-o
Hoping to sand and buff it this weekend, but I've got alot of lawn mowing etc to catch up on!! :-k

Looks great, I'm sure those runs will be able to be sanded out. Keep it up man!

Don't let those runs dry too long or they will be hard to sand out.

I'm on it bro.

Image

just went down to the paint shop at got some 1000-1500 paper and polishing gunk, the old fulla there says I'll have to leave the enamel paint for about 3 months before I can sand and buff it out as it needs to be dry and hard all the way though to shine after buffing?
Was hoping to sand and buff it before assembly, looks like I'm building a car this weekend!

Darrell came over and gave me a hand last night, Cheers D.

Image

Progress was hampered by my dumbass misplacing the pivot bolts for the bonnet hinges.

Image

I did get the engine lid on at least.

Even got the spring on, thats never worked before! \:D/
