When I did mine on the mango I used an angle finder to get the angle of the cut (same as the column)

Franz that would be great. I have been wanting to do this, and not having worked on many buses it would be helpful. |

With mocking it up to where the tierod on the draglink just BARELY cleared the floor I was only able to get 1 1/8" out of it. I dont know how 1.5" is achieved without pushing the floor up

| Looks good. I know 1 1/8" doesn't sound like much, but its all you need on most lowered busses. |

franz, do you think you could have time to do that article you were refering to back in january? I would just like to see how you guys tackle a couple of the steps in the project.
do you guys weld the raise sides to the section the box mounts to first and then weld the entire modified peice gussets and all (if used) to the frame rail?
or just make a thinner cut and weld the section directly to the rail?
It looks like this may be the method you perfer judging by the lack of gussets on some builds |

Thanks, I did mine the same. I just finished it up yesterday.
1.5" up. Im tubbing my bus so im not shorting the collium. please excuse my $100 flux core soidering iron, It got the job done though.. imo this was a very easy and straight forward modification.
Its so easy to ask too many questions and not turn enough wrenchs. Im guilty.
if your getting ready to do this for the first time dont forget your magnetic degree guage it will save your ass if your cuts are a little off.

A grinder can save your ass as well if you're a little off. Gotta have some room in there for the plate steel anyways. |
