I had my alternator rebuilt and was in the process of getting a new pully on and the belt adjusted, etc. I ran the car for awhile and noticed the belt was loosening. So, I went to take it all back apart to adjust the belt again and the nut that holds the pully on somehow got cross threaded. I could not get it off. It went on just fine.

Here is the disaster...I think I know the answer...new alternator right?

Is the shaft also bent where the thread starts, or just the angle of the pic? (top pic)

Near the alternator? No, I think its straight.

The end, the really f'd part is bent down some I think.

I was wondering if I could just have the end cut off and re-tap it.

Some work with a thread file and then maybe a die should make it fine.

One last question...

Does anyone know the size of this thread? is it 10mm? 12mm?

Thanks again.
