| i am a new guy here. i live in sunny south FLORIDA. i have been looking in here for awhile but never got in till recently. you all do great work and have cool ideas here. i have my fair share of ideas too. i can only hope to do as nice a job as most of you here. i realy like the fact that everyone here only encourages instead of diminish one's effort. i believe in driving my vw's. it is the only reason i have them! i am a big fan of 70's gasser's and my next project idea will be a driving 70's gasser-looker. due to having a family i chose to build a bus to haul everyone with me to the shows and on road trips. looking foward to the responses i will get from you all on my 1966 so42 westy cheapo-resto that will be driven all over the country in it's new present life with me. it will be lowered and not original. enjoy! |

the inside was painted with sealer. i decided to take it a little higher and painted the whole floor and 2ft up the sides with grey POR15. we all know buses leak and get wet inside when it rains. if you don't, its because you don't drive it when it rains.
i am not a 'purist' so i build it like i like it. i like chrome!
rear safari also installed with some help

i hate noise in a bus, so i went to lowes and bought the legendary peel n' seel.
started to 'fix' some of the wiring here
og speedo refurbed by my bro
"0" miles on it so i can start its new life
og emblem, washer squirters were replaced with chrome! also new wiper shafts installed on wiper motor. Note POR15 in headlight bucket where water likes to sit.
installed wolfgang intl polished SS safaris! not chrome, but pretty close!

rear 944 alum irs trailing arms and disc brakes. also have access to steel irs arms if i cannot get these to work properly
this is my driver which will give up its shoes(wheels) to the bus soon and the engine if i get pissed at going slow

this is what i bought. it was like $80 a roll at lowes. after you install it, when you bang on the doors or panels it has a nice 'thud' to it. it is like a sound deadner. i rode in my bro's 13 window bus for 5hour trip and it was loud. he saw it installed in my bus and did his. on the next trip the level of noise was cut down 100% from the previous trip! besides it can't be any worse than what came from factory.....NOTHING! |
